At first we would like to remember our Deceased Members and would like to Pray to the Almighty Allah for their departed souls and as well as for the bereaved family members.

Our beloved Association BMMOA came off the slipway in 1979, when its office address was near Barik Bldg mor, Chittagong and now at House No.-143/A (1st floor), Road No.-17/1, CDA R/A, Agrabad, Chittagong with its newly and nicely decorated rest house . The forming of BMMOA was inspired by the initiative and untiring efforts and dedication of some of our senior members. At this present situation , BMMOA is under process of modernization and of growing into a formidable and respected organization designed by Merchant Marine Officers to represent their interests and to promote skills and opportunities in the years ahead. Our Association would like to bring together a variety of people with a Love of Sea and Ships. We are making plan to provide Contacts for the welfare of our members, Research and Careers as well as Helping our members to keep shipmates in touch with one another. By uniting all of our Bangladeshi Merchant Marine Officers we hope to achieve a broad consensus for our policies at both at land and at sea as well as at home and abroad. From now on, BMMOA will try to arrange regular events, meetings, seminars, symposiums and gatherings and thus our intention will be to expand the activities of BMMOA step by step.
The views of the present Executive Committee of BMMOA is to unite all of our Marine Officers under a common umbrella organization avoiding and eradicating all kind of divisions among us so that we can develop a strong voice at National Level that will represent our members’ opinions and views to the Government and other Key Organizations.
In Bangladesh there is a very much shortage of skilled persons in every sectors and at the same time , lack of opportunity to provide them in service. But the Merchant Marine Sector’s Career Opportunity is a bit different type. International Marine sector is now a days facing an acute shortage of trained / qualified / competent Marine Officers and as well as Ratings or Crew . If Bangladesh Government looks into this matter to establish well organized training institutes at Govt. sector and as well as at private sector for the required pre-sea training of International standard and thus produce sufficient numbers of trained Bangladeshi Marine Officers , then our beloved country will definitely earn and bring a huge amount of foreign wages / remittance by them . This will not only help the nation in producing skilled , high quality and trained/ competent Marine Officers , but also enable the country to reduce unemployment and improve economic growth by way of increased foreign currency remittance by the Mariners and help Bangladesh introduce as a Quality Seafaring Nation in the world.
We, all, understand that we need to improve the policy environment and provide a better governance , better delivery system, more transparency, faster decisions, greater policy flexibility and predictability, better physical and scientific and technological infrastructure , trainable workers and better protection for intellectual property rights to ensure the quick and faster development of our beloved country. Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers’ Association has been registered by the Registrar of Trade Union of Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh on 20.11.1986.
This Association is allowed to have two branch offices cum rest houses in Dhaka and Mongla.
